2023/2024

Application Process

The application form was available on this webpage, from Sept. 11 through Sept. 18, 2023.

The Ohio Statehouse Museum Education Center will use a random lottery selection to choose 27 schools from each mileage category.

If you have questions regarding the grants, please contact Dayna Jalkanen at 614-728-2697 or djalkanen@ohiostatehouse.org. The Capitol Square Foundation has created a transportation grant program with generous gifts from Honda of America Mfg., Inc.

The program is designed to help schools defray bus transportation expenses to the Ohio Statehouse. The grants are based on one-way mileage from your school to Columbus. The 2023/2024 transportation grant application form was available Sept. 11, 2023 at 10 a.m. through Sept. 18, 2023 at 6 p.m.

Who Can Apply?

Any Ohio school that receives state funding can apply. However, grants are limited to Ohio students in the 4th through 12th grades during the 2023/2024 school year. Classes below the 4th grade are not eligible. Only one grant will be awarded to each school regardless of the number of buses or students. Grant applicants must have a minimum of 20 students in their tour group in order to receive transportation funding. All grant-funded tours must be scheduled during guided-tour hours (9:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m.; 1:00-3:15 p.m., Monday-Friday).

Where Do I Apply?

Applications must be submitted, online, through this page of the Ohio Statehouse website by an authorized teacher or school administrator. Only online applications are accepted.
