Located on the West Plaza (High Street)
The Black Elected Democrats of Ohio (BEDO) dedicated a honey locust tree in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as part of BEDO's two-day convention in Columbus in August 1984. Governor Richard Celeste accepted the tree. The BEDO is now known as the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus (OLBC). The current tree is a lacebark elm.
