Biography

Marie Babka served one term in the Ohio House of Representatives. During her tenure, she held appointments to the following House Standing Committees:

-Elections,

-Organization of State Government, and

-Public Welfare.

 

She had previously served as clerk for the Cuyahoga County treasurer. Representative Babka sponsored legislation creating pensions for the dependents of deceased police officers and exempting medical and utility expenses from state sales taxes.

 

She had a high school education.  She served seven years on the Board of Elections and was a member of the Electoral College in 1948. Marie and John J. Babka Sr. had two daughters and a son. Her late husband was a U.S. congressman, and their son John was a state legislator.
