Jolynn Boster was the second woman ever elected to serve Gallia County in the Ohio General Assembly; her district, the 94th, also included Meigs and Athens counties. She resided in Gallipolis where she served as assistant Gallipolis city solicitor from 1978 to 1980. She continued to work within the law firm of Cowles & Boster Co., LPA in Gallipolis during her four consecutive terms as a state representative. She attended The Ohio State University for both her undergraduate and legal education, returning to Gallia County to practice as an attorney.
Boster's civic activities included membership in the Ohio State and Gallia County Bar Associations; Ohio Association of Trial Attorneys; Meigs, Callia, Jackson, Mason Big Brother/Big Sisters (founder and member); Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity; Ohio Film Bureau Advisory Board; Joint Committee on Mental Health, Ohio University School of Nursing Advisory Board; and Northwest Ordinance Bicentennial Commission. Jolynn Boster has been honored as the Gallipolis Business and Professional Women's Club Woman of the Year, 1983; the Ohio Association of County Boards of MR/DD Legislator of the Year; and Ohio Developmental Disabilities Planning Council recipient of the Leadership Award.
