War Of 1812 Bicentennial Events : Ready For Battle: Remembering The 200th Anniversary Of The Battle Of Lake Erie
The Battle of Lake Erie was a critical battle in the little-known War of 1812. As the sun rose in the morning of Sept. 10, 1813 an American lookout spotted six British ships to the northwest of Put-in-Bay in Lake Erie. Oliver Hazard Perry, the Master Commandant, issued orders and prepared to sail to engage the enemy.
