First Lady Karen Kasich and daughters Emma and Reece officially kick off the holiday season on Capitol Square with the lighting of two Ohio Statehouse holiday trees on November 30, 2011.
The short tree-lighting ceremony includes music provided by the Chapel Brass Salvation Army Band under the direction of Dr. Keith Wilkinson and the FCI Academy Kindergarten Choir. Sen. Richard Finan, Chairman of the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board, delivers welcoming remarks, and Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at the Statehouse in retro style behind the wheel of a classic "horseless carriage" (1937 Packard V-12 Limousine). Mrs. Kasich, Emma, and Reece welcome visitors and usher in the holiday season by flipping the switch to light the two official Statehouse holiday trees.
