In 2006, the Ohio Statehouse invited those who were involved in the 1989-1996 restoration of the Capitol to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the restoration. The event was "A Capitol Christmas Reunion" for individuals who worked on the restoration of the Ohio Statehouse, and it was held on Friday, November 17, 2006. It was combined with the annual tree lighting ceremony on Capitol Square.

The “Capitol Christmas Reunion,” was scheduled in 2006 because it was the 10th anniversary of the completion of the restoration and the 145th anniversary of the completion of the Statehouse in 1861.
