The Lincoln and Soldiers’ Monument was sculpted by Thomas Dow Jones of Cincinnati from 1865 to 1871. It recalls an assasinated president and also those who sacrificed during the Civil War. Grant, McPherson and Sherman were leaders from Ohio, and were involved in the siege at Vicksburg. It is made out of marble. The quote is from Lincoln's second inaugural address. This monument is in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda.
