An exhibit called, "Gardening in America: From the Founding Fathers to Today," has been installed by the State Library of Ohio.
Items from the State Library of Ohio’s collections tell the story of gardening in early America to today. State and federal documents, popular publications, books, and prints of digitized materials depict both what has remained constant and what has changed in gardening for the family kitchen, landscapes, and farming. Gardens have played a vital role throughout our history.
Gardening today is influenced by both tradition and change. Plant selection, growing practices, land management, environmental awareness, and trends in nutrition enable growers to make informed decisions for home and community gardens, as well as large agricultural operations.
