Description

John Glenn is featured at the Ohio Statehouse.  The Great Ohioan was an astronaut, and served as a U.S. Senator.  Glenn was the first American to orbit the earth in space.  

 

The 60th anniversay of the mission will be remembered in 2022.  Glenn orbited the earth on February 20, 1962 in the Friendship 7 spacecraft.    

 

A new exhibit shares artifacts and mementos of Glenn's life and achievements.  The objects are from the collection of Matt Dole.   

 

The exhibit is adjacent to a statue of Glenn which was created by Zanesville sculptor, Alan Cottrill.
