Conveniently positioned electric vehicle chargers are available for public use on the green level of the Statehouse parking garage.
The charging stations have a modern look and resemble gas pumps. Once a vehicle is plugged in, it begins to charge immediately using 240 volts of electricity and a maximum 30 amps until full. The charging stations are able to take a typical electric car battery from zero to full in six to eight hours. The chargers are easy to use and adhere to the automotive industry's SAE J1772 standard for electric vehicle charging. There is no usage fee for the charging stations, but hourly Statehouse parking garage rates do apply.
UPDATE: During Phase 3 of the Garage Renovation Project, the chargers will not be available from March 30, 2020 until further notice. Click here for updates on the project.
