February 6, 2018

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) will unveil a new piece of narrative art in the Ohio Statehouse for the first time in 59 years. The painting, “Greeting Lincoln,” was composed by artist Pamela Patrick White and will be unveiled Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Ohio Statehouse. The painting depicts President-elect Lincoln addressing a joint session of the 54th Ohio General Assembly on February 13, 1861. The dedication will take place 157 years to the day that Lincoln visited the Ohio Statehouse for the second time in his political career.

“Lincoln’s 1861 visit was a historic event, and it is worthy of being memorialized on canvas. I hope visitors and legislators are inspired by this painting and the legacy of President Abraham Lincoln’s public service,” said CSRAB Chairman, Speaker Cliff Rosenberger.

The dedication program will take place Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Hall of the Ohio House of Representatives. The program is free and open to the public.
