Half-staff flags for Patriots Day

Flags at the Ohio Statehouse will be at half-staff September 11, 12 and 13, 2021.

In honor of the lives lost in the terrorist attacks that occurred 20 years ago, on September 11, 2001, the flags of the United States of America and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio from sunrise to sunset on September 11, 2021.

Furthermore, Governor DeWine asks that all Ohioans observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time to honor the innocent Americans and people from around the world who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2021.

September 12 and 13, 2021



In honor of the life and service of Navy Hospitalman Maxton W. Soviak, the flags of the United States and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Erie County, at the Ohio Statehouse, the Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes State Office Tower until sunset on September 3, 2021, and on the day(s) of his viewing and funeral. All other public buildings and grounds throughout Ohio may fly the flags at half-staff at their discretion for the same time.
