Senator Lance T. Mason is the Assistant Minority Whip of the Ohio Senate. Senator Mason was appointed State Representative to the Ohio House of Representatives in February 2002, filling the vacancy created by Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones. At the end of his appointment, he won reelection by the citizens of the 8th Ohio House District in both 2002 and 2004. In 2006 he was elected to the Ohio Senate and represents the 25th District, which includes parts of the City of Cleveland, and surrounding suburbs in Cuyahoga County. Prior to his legislative career, Senator Mason was the District Director for Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones. As District Director, He supervised a staff of seven and operated the District Office for the Congresswoman. His primary responsibility was to serve the needs of the over 575,000 constituents in the 11th congressional district. Prior to his service in the congressional office, Senator Mason served as an Assistant County Prosecutor and handled several high profile felony cases, including a capital murder, kidnapping, felonious assaults, rapes and robberies. Senator Mason has been a trial lawyer in the private practice of law for over 10 years. He currently works in the litigation group at Baker & Hostetler LLP. He holds a B.A. with honors from the College of Wooster and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
