Located on the North Plaza (Broad Street)

Governor Ted Strickland celebrated Earth Day 2008 by planting a yellow buckeye tree on the North Plaza (outside of the governor's office) on April 22. Fourth-grade students from Westerville's Northside Christian School joined the governor in the ceremony. The yellow buckeye (aeseulus octandra), also called a sweet buckeye or big buckeye, is the largest of the buckeye tree species and is native to Southern Ohio.
