Efficient Sanitation Device used at the Ohio Statehouse
April 15, 2021

(Columbus, OH) –The Ohio Statehouse will be disinfected with a new sanitation device thanks to a grant received from the Office of Budget and Management using the federal CARES Act funding. The all-natural system invented by Engineered Atmospheric Mitigation, an Ohio company, will help prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses among Statehouse tenants and guests.

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) is responsible for maintaining the historic character of Capitol Square while providing for the health, safety and convenience of those who work in and visit the complex. During the ongoing pandemic, the CSRAB staff has been working hard to sanitize the Ohio Statehouse. After comparing various methods for cleaning and sanitation due to the novel coronavirus, CSRAB found a system to improve cleaning efforts without jeopardizing the infrastructure of the building or the historic art and artifacts proudly displayed within.

The new sanitation system developed by Engineered Atmospheric Mitigation uses dry fog to sanitize a room in about 20 minutes. The process is safe for the historical art and architecture of the Ohio Statehouse, a National Historic Landmark. It does not increase humidity or leave a residue. The treated room can be occupied soon after the process is complete.

“This system will make sanitizing the Ohio Statehouse faster and more efficient,” said Laura Battocletti. Executive Director of the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board “In times like these, it is extremely important that we not only meet, but exceed the guidelines for keeping everyone safe.”

Engineered Atmospheric Mitigation of Logan, Ohio invented the award-winning machine specifically to help with the Covid-19 pandemic to slow and kill the spread of this virus. The device has been tested and approved at a Battelle lab. The system kills 99.99% of virus and bacteria on the surfaces in the rooms.

“As an Ohio based company, we are extremely proud to partner with the Ohio Statehouse to help protect their facilities, staff, and patrons,” said Douglas Kitchen of Engineered Atmospheric Mitigation. “Our all-natural solution is safe, easy to use and environmentally friendly.”
